DECEMBER 2011
What a crazy year it's been as Ryan has been working in the underbelly of the industry as he handcrafted his next offering which is nearly ready to set free into the world. As always, it's taken longer that intended but he has persevered. The new single Bruised Fingertips will be uploaded soon.
Those of you who will be at New Year's Vic Falls Fest will be able to buy a copy of the CD with Bruised Fingertips and two bonus tracks on it. Ryan is proud to introduce his 5-piece band to the mainstage with some cracking songs on the set list alongside Locnville and other great acts from the region. Follow him on facebook and twitter to keep up to date with the adventures on the road and backstage.
MAY 2011
We've uploaded new music to the website with a song called Dark Days on the music player. Dark Days is off the upcoming album 'London's Burning'. The track was written in London when Ryan was living in the disused Hospital building in Central London where he also recorded his first Demo EP. The building is currently featured on the BBC for its ties to Oliver Twist.
Work on the new album continues amidst the challenges presented by recording in Southern Africa. Ryan has also been writing for his album that will follow this one so things are still moving forwards behind the scenes.
JANUARY 2011
A very Happy New Year to all you music fans across the globe. Ryan has just returned from playing a festival to usher in 2011. His highlight was singing to 5 000 people under the stars at Vic Falls Fest and hearing them sing back at him as he rocked the stage with his own band after doing a set with Mann Friday.
He is now back in his recording studio in Harare working on the new album with a new song being uploaded in the near future to give you an idea of what's been going on behind the microphone.
DECEMEBER 2010
Heading towards the end of the year, Ryan has been keeping busy having recently played with The Parlotones and also with Oliver Mutukudzi as well as his week-long residency at Reps Theatre.
The recording continues on the side and we are all looking forward to next year when the new album can be unleashed. In the meantime, we wish you a happy festive season and see you in 2011.
NOVEMBER 2010
The last couple of months have been busy with activities outside of the recording studio with Ryan heading to London to play a few shows in September as well as rocking the crowd at this year's Rock Down Harare Festival alongside bands like Watershed from South Africa. He also played a recent showcase gig by special invitation at the US Ambassador's residence in Harare which was also in honor of the late Daniel Pearl. We can tell you that the new London-inspired EP is looking to grow into a full album so the next couple of months will reveal more on that front.
Ryan's next live show is going to be a week-long run of acoustic unplugged shows at Reps Upstairs Theatre in Harare from November 14 2010, more details can be found on the Gigs page.

After playing in LA, Wolverhampton and then London, the new year sees Ryan returning to his homeland of Zimbabwe which he's glad to have done after hearing the news of chilling weather in snowy UK. He continues to write new material and will be playing a couple of shows in sunny Harare before heading back to Europe in the Spring.
Details of Ryan's Harare shows can be found on the gigs page
NOVEMBER 2009
Ryan has just returned from his first trip to LA which he loved and will be working on new material into the new year. There will be a few gigs played over the next couple of months with London and Wolverhampton booked so far. Check the gigs page for newer bookings that are coming in the next little while.
There will be the usual activity on Twitter, facebook and YouTube as we work towards more touring in 2010. The US, Aus/NZ and Europe will be the target areas.
SEPTEMBER 2009
Things are keeping busy in the RK camp and the first song off the new upcoming EP can be heard on the music player. 'Bruised Fingertips' will be on the London-inspired EP that Ryan is currently recording.
He is also a regional finalist in a National Unsigned competition and you can find out more by visiting the Gigs page.
JUNE 2009
The time has come, as one can expect in a musician's life, for Ryan to work on a new record. His first solo offering being the limited edition EP that will not be re-pressed once the stock is all sold out. The Demonstration EP, which is but a mere peek into the musical landscape that is up ahead, is available to buy with full CD and artwork from CD Baby or Banquet Records. International deliveries are possible through either online store. See the 'Buy' link on this website.
In the meantime, Ryan has shacked up in the English country side to write and record his up coming full length album. His MySpace blog continues to document his movements and encounters. There will also still be more new uploads on his YouTube account as he develops and records his first ever full solo album.
MAY 2009
April flew by but not without some fantastic moments that included the South African tour where Ryan also played solo shows in Johannesburg and in stunning Cape Town.
His is now working towards writing and recording a new album over the next few months as he continues to play around the UK.
APRIL 2009
Ryan is back from playing his first Scottish gig in Edinburgh which went very well. A brilliant candle-lit way to spend Earth Hour as he played an hour long set that ended at 8.30pm.
Ryan is off to tour around South Africa with his other band for the month of April and he might play some solo shows while he's out there. Any booked solo gigs will be posted on the gigs page and MySpace etc.
Otherwise, the new recordings for new tracks 'She Left Me For Dead' and 'The Sky Is For Flying' are available for free download from the downloads page, so head on over there to get your copy :o)
FEBRUARY & MARCH 2009
Ryan's 8 Track EP titled 'The Demonstration EP' is available to buy online from here with international delivery available. He has been playing live gigs around London and has been having fun doing his YouTube 'In My Place' house gigs. He is now booking gigs around the UK with Edinburgh booked for March 28. Other UK cities are set to follow, including Canterbury and Brighton. There are brand new songs being recorded that will be on line soon, so keep an eye out on the MySpace page for those and for new live dates.
JANUARY 2009
A new year and new stories to share from the Ryan hospital ward. Ryan's EP is
now also available from CD Baby in the US and is also delivered worldwide from
their site.
The YouTube 'In My Place' series is well underway with over a dozen videos already
on Ryan's YouTube channel. It's been fun and some highlights have included Ryan
being upstaged by the resident cat at a Christmassy decorated house over the
holidays in Newcastle Upon Tyne and a also a heartfelt rendition of Nights In White
Satin delivered from an 11th floor balcony with a wonderful view of London. It was
bloody freezing mind you!
The plans for early 2009 include booking more house gigs/proper gigs around the
UK and even releasing newer songs/recordings as they get made. Lots of videos
and plans for Europe/The US are in the pipeline. It's time to change gears and take
things to next level, so stay tuned.
DECEMBER 2008
Ryan's CD is finally out! What a difficult baby that was! He looks forward to the
times where he just needs to focus on the music and not play one man record label
/PR/manager/producer/site maintainer and everything else to do with his music.
But for now, it's on with setting up foundations to his music career and building a
good team. The Demonstration EP is now available to order worldwide from one
central location. See the link at the bottom of this site or visit
www.banquetrecords.com
A new YouTube projecet called 'In My Place', has already begun and there will be
videos uploaded soon. Ryan is playing small house gigs in some lucky people's
very own lounges to give them an intimate look at live acoustic music. What a
bargain, instead of having to trek to a venue in the howling winter night and spend
money to get in.
The music video for Cupid Love (Interlude), song number 4 on the EP, that was
shot and edited in Sydney, Australia, is also now up on YouTube to celebrate
the launch of the new CD.
A musician with enough belief in himself and in his potential, to abandon his job
and flat to fully pursue his dream. Ryan, is currently living a crazy life that most
would not tolerate but he knows the climb up any mountain is challenging, so
rather than take detours and make excuses, why not just go straight up the
mountain you are after?
The year ends on a triumphant note, as Ryan celebrates having reached his primary
goals, against all odds. So there continues to be all sorts of movement from Ryan
on MySpace, YouTube, facebook and other sites like Last.fm, so do check out
what's on and where.
OCTOBER & NOVEMBER 2008
October proved to be a very strange and slightly difficult month for our
musician on a mission. The Demo/EP is finally recorded and with it, a major mile
stone has been achieved. Raising the cash to get the discs manufactured became
an issue, and so over a month later, the 1st batch of CDs has finally just gone to
press and the EP will be available before long.
Now that he has something to share, Ryan will be looking to book shows across
the UK to begin with, and then try out different parts of Europe in the new year.
He also hopes to hit the US for the 1st time in 2009 and has already began working
on new songs.
There is much work to do and there is much more to come in the form of new
songs, YouTube videos and blogs. Ryan is looking forward to now getting out there
to share and promote his music. Thank you for being so patient on the long road
that is has been. Let the show begin!
SEPTEMBER 2008
THE DEMONSTRATION EP - OUT SOON
Guts and dedication reign supreme: Just over a year ago, having left his day job,
then his London flat, Ryan had fully embraced his passion and desire to make it
as a musician. He knew this was the quickest way to achieve his goals, ridding
himself of the time-consuming distractions that he had tussled with since first
arriving in London five years ago.
Armed with just his guitar and a few other bits/pieces, he started his
adventure that lead to him busking on London's South Bank, living in a hostel,
meeting an array of people, ranging from homeless folks on the streets to the very
man who wrote 'Living On A Prayer'.
It's been a hard struggle to get just his demo recorded, but he's finally done it!
(and in much quicker time than he would have, if still working a day job).
Ryan has also written a MySpace blog, documenting his thoughts and adventures
along the way.
There have been many stops on the journey, from trying to move to Brighton to
record (and only lasting there for 5 minutes before it all fell apart), to finally
recording his demo in a previously disused 'hospital building' in the very heart of
London. Ryan played all the instruments on the EP and learned to record himself,
as he has no budget to even consider doing it any other way at this time.
He hopes the EP will be a vehicle to meeting the right people and to create the right
opportunities to move forwards, as he sets up a base for a life-long career in music.
The RK ship is finally a-sail, but the mission has only just begun.
The 8 track 'Demonstration EP' will be out in October 2008, both to download and
in physical format from Ryan's websites (and in person, from live gigs/busking).
There is now a new video for a track called 'Cupid Love (Interlude)' taken from the
EP, which can be found by doing a quick search on MySpace, facebook and
YouTube.
Now that he'll be out and gigging more, Ryan has loads more material (ranging
from as far back as 2000) that he will continue to develop as time goes on, as long
as he manages to stay housed and fed!
Here's to living your dreams!
JULY & AUGUST 2008
Another hectic 2 months in outer space. July saw Ryan hosting his friend from LA,
Shane Alexander, who played his 1st ever set of UK shows, mainly to open for
Suzanne Vega at the Marlowe in Canterbury. Whilst playing a house concert with
Shane in York and at some of his favourtie London venues, Ryan also enjoyed
playing 'London tourist', showing Shane some of the sites. After all the excitement
and Shane's departure, Ryan then decided to cut all his long hair off, something
he had been considering for a wee while.
August allowed for some time to get more recording done and Ryan is only weeks
away from completing his EP. Very exciting indeed, as it's been, and continues to
be one big challenge to get his demo recorded, relying only on himself, in his early
days, and state of modern impoverishment. The busking has not gone well at all,
but more news and details are in the new MySpace blog titled 'TNT For The Brain'.
JUNE 2008
Take that sucker! Against the odds, Ryan now has a brand new super brain laptop,
so now he is looking forward to having a more smooth recording experience.
Time continues to be elusive as he tries to keep his head afloat above the water
with a new blog just uploaded to his MySpace, he hopes to make July a more
constructive month.
MAY 2008
As he continues to play this robust game of chess with life, Ryan remains
adament to see his music recorded. The latest obstacles including having to
move house yet again and finding himself living in a vacant hospital building
in Central London, where he can continue to tussle with his troublesome laptop
and juggle all the other issues at hand.
Lots of exciting moments have happened in May, the highlight seing Ryan
play cello for the legendary Desmond Child at a showcase gig in London.
More details in Ryan's personal MySpace blog.
APRIL 2008
A mad month spent working on the Mann Friday campaign to release their
debut single called Sunburn and Wonder. Ryan plays bass for the band and
they had a successful gig headlining the Astoria2 on May 8 with new drummer
and new material at the ready.
Ryan is now preparing to go back to the recording of his solo album and he
has started booking new live dates. The Troubadour in Earls Court being the
main one so far.
FEBRUARY & MARCH 2008
After a painful month of setting up and trying to figure out how to get things
like keyboards and computer software to talk to eachother, Ryan has finally
gotten his bedroom studio working. He has already recorded his fan/artist
collaboration track called 'Muddy Paws' that can be heard on his MySpace.
He plans to make a video for this song using the same fan input method.
He is now busy juggling the busking, his rock band Mann Friday and making
his solo record, quite happily might he add!
Ryan is looking forward to bearing the fruit of his soul when he emerges from
the forest with music and gigs in hand.
In the mean time, Mann Friday are releasing their debut single on April 28, 2008

Ryan's MySpace blog has more detailed information on his adventures.
JANUARY 2008
Wow! And so the life of a troubadour takes yet another turn. Ryan arrived in
Brighton in mid January as planned, but life throws its curve balls at you!
He lasted as long as a mere half hour and got no further than the front door
of his new place due to unforseen circumstances and quite frankly, by being let
down by the property people.
Therefore Brighton is now on hold and Ryan has just set up base in a lovely
Victorian building right next door to Earls Court Station. He has wasted no time
in making the lemons that life shoved down his throat and made it into lemonade.
More details and Ryan musings can of course be found in his MySpace blog.
Links on the menu to the left.
So the home studio is now being set up in the vacant 4 storey building full of
wonderful spaces and empty rooms to record in. The London Underground Busking
has been started and apart from being let down yet again by dodgy websites that
don't work properly when people want to vote for their favourite busker, Ryan is
doing what he does best... Just getting on with his plans and relying on none other
than himself.
The Hybrid Project song is called 'Muddy Paws' and it will be the first song Ryan
starts recording soon... Bring it on, Sally!
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2007
Happy New Year to all the RK readers/listeners and here's hoping you are all as
excited as Ryan is about 2008. You should see the grin on his face at the mere
thought of the time that lies ahead. There is alot to look forward to as the phases
tick over.
Ryan played his last live shows of the year in London in early November after
setting up base in Turners Hill, West Sussex. He has been living there in the English
countryside since late September and loves the space 'n quiet.
It has been his time to write, plan, dream, discover new music/inspirations and
gather his thoughts.
He has continued to upload videos of his acoustic cover songs on YouTube and
been preparing to record, which he hopes to finally begin when he moves Brighton
really soon. He bit the bullet and took up a job in November as a chef de rang at a
Hotel in the country to save up for the Brighton landing. ETA ... Mid January!
December also saw Ryan wake up one day and get the idea to start the 'HYBRID'
project, where he invited all the people in his Facebook group to send in their own
words/poetry/lyrics which he will then use to write a new song. His idea is to try to
motivate people who wouldn't normally expect to see their words in a recorded
song be a part of a creative project.
The words have been chosen and the song is in writing. It already has a name and
will be available as a free download once Ryan records the finished product. If it
goes well, there may end up being a 'HYBRID EP'.
OCTOBER 2007
On the afternoon of October 1, Ryan finally got to undergo minor surgery to sort
'out' the cyst on his eye. He had an eye patch on for a few hours and by the
evening, he was rocking to Incubus at the Brixton Academy. Rock n Roll!
At the end of that week, he worked on a film with Dustin Hoffman and Emaa
Thompson with the glamorous title (not) of background actor. Posing as a busker
on South Bank no less! What are the odds?!
There was a gig played at the Bullet Bar in Camden and an interesting music art
installation type project for a week in London. Ryan has also decided to start
uploading YouTube videos of him playing acoustic tracks here and there as he
choo-choos along. More details on the MySpace Blog.
The link to his MySpace profile lurks to the left of this page.
SEPTEMBER 2007
This month saw Ryan leave the hostel life by the South Bank. He played gigs at the
Bullet Bar, Camden and at one of his favourite venues, the Halfmoon Putney.
He is still looking for a base to start recording in, and is currently poking around in
the Brighton area, having gone through Hastings on the way. More details of his
travels and encounters will be coming when he updates his MySpace blog.
AUGUST 2007
Ryan has been busy with all sorts and you can read about some of his adventures
on his MySpace blog. Some of it includes the final Mann Friday gig at the Clapham
Grand and the hostel world. He is looking to find somewhere to park for a few
months to record his new debut material, so do shout if you have any suggestions.
He is also looking for cellists for live shows which he has been and will be playing
around London. Find more info on dates on the relevant page.
JULY 2007
Welcome to the official Ryan Koriya website. It is still in development and will get
more meaty as times goes. For now, early demo tracks can be heard on his
MySpace page.
You can use the link on the left.
Working towards getting more material written and demos recorded for his solo
debut, Ryan is living the adventurous life of a troubadour. Having busked to get to
Edinburgh, he is catching up with old friends and finishing off tracks and is soon
to return to London.
For the last 2 months, Ryan has been living in a London hostel, painting murals
as work for a bed and busking on South Bank for money. An adventure that kicked
off as a result of deciding to leave the office world to finally make a place big
enough in the day for his music to take off. He has started a blog on MySpace as
he documents his journey to musical freedom. Also look out for some upcoming
live shows and home made videos.
